South West Donegal Communities Partnership Ltd. have recently been approved investment from UCIT (Ireland) amounting to €100,000 towards the development of a flagship community resource centre for the area.
SWDCP were established to provide a united front for communities within the area. It obtained funding to establish a Community Development Project due to the level of deprivation. Typical activities include: Rural transport, Youth Work, Citizens Information Service, and the Centre for Community & Enterprise which has recently been completed. The area serviced by the centre will include Ardara, Killightee to Inver Bridge, Killybegs, Kilcar, and Glencolmcille, in South West Donegal.
The group supports approx. 80 groups providing advice on start up and accessing funding.
The Centre, which cost almost €2 million to complete, will take a one-stop-shop approach to allowing people move between services contained in the building without having to renegotiate moving to another building in a different side of the town.
It is to provide high spec training facilities for hire along with quality and affordable full day childcare services which include provision of hot meals to approximately 40 children under five years of age with after-school's programmes for approximately 30-35 children up to the age of twelve years. |
